GENERAL:   Rodents hide in dark places and are most active at night.  They prefer to feed in the dark and live inside of structures in colonies with easy access to food, warmth and water.  Attics, closets, storage areas, garages, sub flooring, sewer lines and debris provide them with good refuge.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES:  Rodents and their parasites carry bubonic plague, rabies, rat fever and numerous other diseases.

ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE:
Every year rodents destroy millions of dollars worth of food and other goods.  They can chew through leather, plastic, wood, metal, etc. to get to food, water and shelter.  They can and do bite other animals and man.  Never handle dead rodents with bare hands because they may be infected with parasites.

PEST CONTROL:  Good sanitation both inside and out is essential.

Seal cracks, screen and all vents and keep weather stripping in good repair.  Cut tree branches
and plants away from the house and keep heavy ground thinned as they make good hiding places
for rodents.  Trash cans should not be left without lids and should have a good seal.

Bait usage is risky for children and pets and rodents may choose to die in undesirable places.
In any good control problem ample use of snap traps is necessary and much safer.  When part of a
rodent colony is destroyed, those remaining will be wary of bait and not eat the same foods, poisons
or go to the same water supply.
